Learning · Practice · Application

Learning that changes how people lead, coach and respond.

Practical development experiences for coaches, leaders, teams and organizations, connecting learning with reflection, practice, feedback and application.

Learning that meets the real work

Professional development is most useful when it connects directly to the situations people face. Leaders are navigating competing priorities, changing expectations, difficult conversations, organizational dynamics and decisions without perfect information. Coaches continue to refine how they listen, respond and partner. Teams need space to think together and work more effectively.

Programs are designed around the people, context and development outcomes involved. The purpose is practical change: leaders who think more clearly, hold stronger conversations, develop capability in others and respond more effectively when the work becomes complex.

Program 01

The Leader as Coach

Coaching skills for managers, leaders and aspiring professional coaches.

Leaders do not need to become professional coaches to benefit from coaching skills. They need to recognize when giving another answer is less useful than creating space for someone else to think.

The program develops the mindset, knowledge, skills and judgment needed for effective coaching conversations. Leaders learn to listen with attention, establish clear agreements, ask questions that support reflection, evoke awareness and encourage ownership. Aspiring coaches build foundational capability aligned with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics.

What the program develops

  • Coaching presence and attentive listening
  • Clear agreements, trust, safety and client choice
  • Inquiry that supports reflection and awareness
  • Developmental conversations, ownership and accountability
  • Independent thinking and learning
  • Ethical and professional coaching practice
  • Judgment about when to coach and when to lead differently
  • Coaching through leadership, career and life transitions
  • Emotional intelligence and awareness of responses to change

The leader as coach

The term describes the intentional use of coaching skills within a leadership role. It does not remove managerial responsibility or turn every workplace conversation into coaching. Participants learn when coaching is appropriate and when direction, feedback, decision-making or performance management is required. They also explore authority, confidentiality, responsibility and choice within reporting relationships.

Value for leaders and organizations

  • Greater ownership and accountability within teams
  • More effective delegation and development conversations
  • Less unnecessary escalation to senior leaders
  • Earlier, more constructive performance conversations
  • Greater confidence among managers leading through change
  • A stronger pipeline of people able to think and act independently

Program structure

Total program hours: 62 hours, comprising 32 synchronous hours and 30 self-directed asynchronous hours. Ten hours of mentor coaching are included within the synchronous hours.

Mentor coaching takes place over at least three months. Participants may complete all 10 hours individually, or seven hours in a group and three hours individually. Groups will have no more than 10 participants. Learning may include live instruction, self-directed study, small-group practice, peer coaching, observed coaching, written feedback, mentor coaching and final assessment.

ICF accreditation status. SageStride has not yet applied for ICF accreditation for this program; an application is planned. Application does not guarantee approval. Until ICF grants formal approval, the program will not be described as ICF-accredited or ICF-approved. Completion does not confer an ACC credential, and participants remain responsible for satisfying all current ICF requirements.

Program 02

Mindful Leadership and Facilitated Mindfulness Experiences

Presence is a leadership practice.

Mindful leadership begins with noticing what is happening within us and around us before deciding how to respond. Mindfulness helps leaders become more aware of attention, reactions, assumptions, emotions, choices and patterns of response, particularly under pressure or uncertainty.

The focus is practical. Mindfulness is integrated into leadership and professional development rather than presented solely as a wellness offering.

Program structure

Total program hours: 10 hours delivered over three days in a highly interactive format.

Areas of exploration

  • Attention and leadership presence
  • Awareness of habitual reactions
  • Emotional regulation under pressure
  • Assumptions and patterns of interpretation
  • Intentional decision-making
  • Listening and relational awareness
  • Sustainable individual and collective well-being

Value for leaders and organizations

The value becomes visible in how people respond when pressure rises: more considered responses, greater attention during important conversations, improved emotional and relational awareness, more thoughtful decision-making and healthier ways of sustaining performance.

The organizational value

Leadership development is an investment of time, attention and resources. Its value should be visible beyond the learning session. SageStride connects each program to the leadership behaviors and workplace outcomes that matter in context, such as clearer accountability, stronger management conversations, improved collaboration, reduced overreliance on senior leaders and greater confidence during change.

How progress can be assessed

  • Development outcomes agreed before the program begins
  • Participant reflection and self-assessment
  • Observation of skills during practice and application
  • Feedback from participants, managers or relevant stakeholders
  • Follow-up conversations about changes in leadership behavior
  • Review of appropriate workplace indicators

Measures are selected for the program and organizational context. SageStride does not promise a predetermined financial return; the emphasis is meaningful change, evidence of application and understanding what is improving because of the investment.
